Leaving the shoebox?
7 years in our tiny little house, and now we may finally be moving to a place with enough space for all 6 of us. In 2004, when it was just the 4 of us, 2 bedrooms seemed like enough. Just until we were able to build the perfect small, green house. A 760 square foot house doesn't seem so small when you have 4+ acres to kick around on. Plenty of mistakes and a messy economy have changed our perception of what we want. A new, ultra energy efficient house is a worthy goal, I think. I've found that using what's already there, improving on it where necessary, is a better use of our resources. In spite of the dismal real estate market here in Nevada, we have someone interested in buying our house, which will make it possible to buy our neighbor's house up the street. Room for all of us, our stuff, and room to paint/sew/create/whatever I am doing. And I can leave a project out until I finish it! Right now I have to clean it all up before dinner or bedtime, and who knows when I'll feel like getting it all out again to finish. So much possibility ahead. Stay tuned!
